Pro Tips
- Powdered Sugar – You sprinkle the tops of the dirt cups with powdered sugar. Depending on how you decorate them, it may look like sand.
- Prepare ahead of time – You can easily prepare these dirt pudding cups ahead of time. Depending on the candy you use, I usually add them to the cups prior to serving them.
- Crushing Oreos – No worries if you do not have a food processor or blender. Place the cookies inside a bag and crush. Make sure it is sealed tightly. You can use a rolling pin to quickly crush the cookies.
- Full fat ingredients are best. I prefer to use whole milk and regular cool whip to make this. You certainly can substitute these but I find it is best without using reduced fat items.
- Layer Ingredients –Add a small portion of the pudding and the the cookie crumbs. Then continue until the cup is full.
- Oreo –Leave cream filling in Oreos when crushing them.
- Serving – We like to serve in small cups so it is easy for the smaller hands to hold them. You use glass or plastic cups, we just recommend them being clear for this dirt dessert.
How Long will Dirt Pudding Last?
Dirt Pudding cups are best served immediately. But you can prepare and store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 to 3 days. The crushed oreo cookies will begin to get soggy if stored too long.
