A proper co*cktail is 3-4 oz of spirits & mixers. Shaking or stirring adds another 1-1.5 oz of water from chilling & dilution.
A drink any larger requires rapid consumption or you end up drinking a warm drink. The size of this drink is spot on.

I make these all winter. I prefer a slightly higher proportion of brandy to equal amounts of cream and creme de cacao - 1.5/1/1. I use heavy cream, light cream, or half-and-half, depending on what's in the frig. Nutmeg can overwhelm so I use it sparingly.

J Colletti

How do you serve a 3 oz drink to a guest ? If it was whisky neat I could understand, but a 3 oz mixed drink ? This receipe needs to be doubled.

AK

I use ice cream instead of heavy cream and it makes for a delightful post-dinner co*cktail.

Love the times

This drink is the best- serving it all season

Dale

A brandy or grasshopper dessert drink made with cream or milk and not ice cream is not worthy of printing.Try it, you'll never go back

CSB

Agree with more brandy - 1.5 Oz and I use half and half and dash of nutmeg. Delightful lighter option when serving spiked eggnog at the holidays.

Jo

This is my happy holiday drink of choice! Simple and forgiving for what is in the fridge.

Harbor Diner

Used 1.5 oz brandy and lots of nutmeg on top. Tasty!

This is the drink I always wanted when ordering a White Russian. Now I know. Yum

zacko

Be careful. This drink is so good it could ruin your life, viz. Days of Wine and Roses.

Bob

Make sure to use freshly grated nutmeg on top!

Samantha

I also made the drink a bit bigger, with equal parts of 1 1/2 oz, and it appropriately filled the martini glass. Delicious, looks and tastes like winter. :)

janina

I use high quality ice cream and make it in a blender.

Paul

Best made in advance and chilled to eliminate the need for ice. White (clear) brandy and white crème de cacao are both available. I use both for this drink.

K Gardner

I make it 1/2 part cheap brandy, especially if aged for more than 2 years, 1 part milk, and 1 part creme de cacao. I find milk works just as well as cream. For parties, I go with 3/4 to 1 part Hennessy VS and add a small dash of nutmeg.

A bar I worked at in the 80s always made them in a blender with I've cream!! So much better

Isabel

I'm enjoying one on this cold NYC afternoon. Only change to the recipe is that I used half and half instead of heavy cream. Don't spare the nutmeg.

Kim

Idk if you tried this yet, but that 1 oz. of cream is going to greatly expand into a fluffy cream, so your drink will actually appear bigger and also be more filling.

90% of the co*cktails you’ve ever had that weren’t topped with soda were 3oz. That’s the industry standard.
